  11. Recently I had my A3000 in for service.  I happened to mention that
  12. I had an external CD ROM, and the service guy asked if I was having
  13. any problems, explaining that the SCSI controller chip sometimes had
  14. problems with CD ROMs.

  16. At the time, I said 'no', but now I'm beginning to wonder.  I have
  17. been having some problems, particularly executing programs (and just
  18. recently a script has been acting flakey) off of a CD.

  20. If anyone else knows about this, could you explain what the symptoms
  21. of this trouble are?  In general, my problem seems to occur when I
  22. am doing intensive reads from a CD (ie, executing a script, which
  23. runs another script, or running a compiler, which reads include files,
  24. etc).  Basically, what seems to happen is the computer just hangs on
  25. the read.  If I eject the CD, I get a "Read error" requester, and
  26. things proceed again.
