- Recently I had my A3000 in for service. I happened to mention that
- I had an external CD ROM, and the service guy asked if I was having
- any problems, explaining that the SCSI controller chip sometimes had
- problems with CD ROMs.
-
- At the time, I said 'no', but now I'm beginning to wonder. I have
- been having some problems, particularly executing programs (and just
- recently a script has been acting flakey) off of a CD.
-
- If anyone else knows about this, could you explain what the symptoms
- of this trouble are? In general, my problem seems to occur when I
- am doing intensive reads from a CD (ie, executing a script, which
- runs another script, or running a compiler, which reads include files,
- etc). Basically, what seems to happen is the computer just hangs on
- the read. If I eject the CD, I get a "Read error" requester, and
- things proceed again.
-
- Thanks in advance...
- -Dave
